Cardinals lock up Fitzgerald
The Arizona Cardinals can now breathe easy after locking up wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald to a long-term contract.
Concerned that Fitzgerald could skip town at the end of the season, the Cardinals gave him an eight-year contract worth $120 million.
The deal includes a $50 million signing bonus, making it one of the richest contracts in NFL history.
The contract will keep Fitzgerald under the team’s control through the 2018 season, essentially assuring he will end his career with the Cardinals.
Fitzgerald said he was happy to put the business side of the game behind him so that he can just go out and play the game that he loves so much.
